New Live Album from Grace Morrison

I love Plymouth, Massachusetts.
Mostly because I’ve been obsessed with the Pilgrims since I was a child and have recently learned that I’m directly descended from many of them. Because apparently my historical nerditude needed to get even nerdier.
So when The Spire opened in downtown Plymouth around 2014 or 2015, I decided that one day I wanted to headline that room.
Artists I looked up to—people like Melissa Etheridge—were headlining there. At one point, I even had a boyfriend imply that I’d never be able to headline that room.
Welp.
There I was in the fall of 2024 with my own headlining show at The Spire booked for December.
And the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.
I had spent that year writing an album of songs about my hometown and the little corner of coastal Massachusetts that made me who I am. I called it Saltwater Country.
For the show, I put together a killer band: my producer (and Tori Amos bassist) Jon Evans, Matthias Bossi on drums, Matt Borrello on guitar—who also opened the show—and my BFF Erin Ash Sullivan on harmonies. My stepdaughter even joined us to sing harmonies on my cover of “Waterfalls.”
And then we sold out the room.
That night became the debut of the songs I’d spent the year writing, in a place I’d wanted to headline for nearly a decade, surrounded by people I love.
And I had more fun onstage than I ever had before.
I curled my hair—which I NEVER do. I wore pants onstage because I felt good in them—which I NEVER do. I smiled. I laughed. I shook my rump while we played—which I REALLY never do.
I was just...happy.
And thank God Past Me had the good sense to use her noodle, because I had the audio recorded and a videographer there to capture the whole thing.
When I got the videos back, I was SO excited by how good everything sounded. And I started wondering...
Did we accidentally make a live album?
So I sent the tracks to my friend John at Bongo Beach Productions, who has worked on every recording I’ve ever made, and asked him to mix them and see if what we’d captured was actually good enough to release.
It was.
And that’s how Greetings from Saltwater Country was born.
This album is the sound of one of the happiest nights I’ve ever had onstage: a sold-out room, a killer band, people I love, and a collection of songs about the place that made me who I am.
